Pet Behavior

It’s critical to screen out any underlying medical conditions in the event that your pet is displaying unusual and/or alarming behavior. All behavioral evaluations at Courtyard Animal Hospital start with a physical exam and laboratory testing, which may include a complete blood count, serum chemical profile, thyroid screening, and urinalysis in order to rule out any underlying health issues first. Depending on your pet’s symptoms and general health, we will advise one or more tests. If a medical condition is found, we will talk about your pet’s treatment choices. If no medical cause is found, then we will suggest strategies to reduce unwanted behavior and possibly behavioral modifying medications. We may also put you in touch with a trainer we trust or a board-certified veterinary behaviorist who may provide you with a personalized behavior modification plan.
